Marietta Davis was born in Berlin, NY, where she lived until called by death. She was not of open religious habits; being disinclined to religious conversation. During the revival in the winter of 1847-48, her mind was religiously exercised; but she could not realize what others professed, so as to enable her to unite with her young friends in the ordinances of the Gospel. In August following she fell into a sleep, or trance, from which she could not be awakened. In that state she remained nine days; and when she awoke, she said she had been in Heaven; that she had seen there many of her old friends and relations who were dead; and Jesus the Redeemer. From that time her hope in heaven through Jesus, was strong; and she rejoiced in the prospect of a final admission into the Paradise of Peace.
"Whether she saw and heard what she relates, or imagined it, is of but little importance. I however unhesitatingly state it as my firm and unwavering belief, that the spirit of Marietta Davis, like John, the Revelator, while his body was in the Isle of Patmos, visited scenes beyond the grave, and there saw and heard what she relates. However this may be, if the truth can be brought to reach the mind, and win the affections to the Christian Religion, all is gained that should be desired." - Stephen Deuel

This book is printed off the original and is a little rough in spots but since this is the only way to get this book anymore you have to overlook the poor print. That being said, I have read many books about NDE's some are believable and some are major fabrications of someones mind. You get a feel after awhile about which ones are worth considering and which ones need to go into the trash can. I had a hard time getting that feel for this one. She had some pretty detailed recall as to what she saw and heard. Also this is a hard book to read because it is in the language of the day. Really slows you down. It is not one of my favorites but it is not going in the trash. It does have some merit to it. I guess you will have to decide for yourself.Product details

The Trance of Marietta Davis Scenes Beyond The Grave Rev J L Scott Books Reviews
This book will help you see the sacrifice of Jesus Christ more clearly.
I was blessed by this book, even though it was penned so long ago it is a great glimpse into heaven for anyone who loves His appearing. I would recommend this book to all who love Jesus.
This is another additional to a wonderful series. The writing and flow of the book is perfect for my 8 year old and if you were concerned there may be a bias according to the times and events this book is daring enough to address the questionable without casting doubt on the miraculous. It is a very honest approach to an important spiritual time in our nation and for the Christian faith.
